Good Question? Yes, I thought so myself, so I thought I’d look a bit deeper at this mystifying dilemma facing Managers on a daily basis.
Commercial operations, like their counterparts in extreme sport and military operations come packaged with their own robust set of inherent risks, as well as plenty of room to add more – dependant on your appetite and your managerial capability.
The more capable you are at managing and mitigating the risks, the more benign they become. The more one-eyed can-do cowboys however, seem to generate risks (and clearly some dire consequences) in every step that they take.
Seems to me that we’re all looking at the looking-glass instead of seeing through it.
We see our political leaders actively seeking to compromise our security and dignity in the name of diplomacy, rather than drawing a line in the sand as a starting point to go forward from.
We see corporates withdraw their custom from suppliers who do not have humane staffing policies, yet at the same time themselves allow their own internal fortitude to collapse under the weight of contradiction and unconscionable workplace practices.
